Position Summary:
The Director will lead the philanthropic program for both The Hospitalof Central Connecticut and MidState Medical Center, as well as direct theVolunteer Services program consisting of over 400 volunteers. Working inconjunction with hospital leadership, the Director will design and implementfund-raising campaigns by building relationships, soliciting gifts, acknowledgingdonors, and effectively communicating information to donors, prospects, andcommunity leadership.----Key Accountabilities:--

• Build relationships and increase donations in a community-focused approach. Design and implement fund-raising campaigns using direct mail, personal solicitation, involvement of businesses and organizations, appeals to philanthropic organizations and planned giving through estate planning, bequests, trusts, etc.--
• Provide recognition through gift clubs, written and electronic communication, recognition events, donor signage including plaques and digital displays, and special recognition for planned gift individuals
• Oversees Volunteer Services to ensure delivery of the organization's programs and services; provide guidance, support, resources and tools to staff who supervise volunteers; develop and implement goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization; assess the need for volunteers to enhance program/service delivery; and conduct ongoing evaluation of the programs and services delivered by volunteers and implement improvements as necessary.
• Develop department goals and objectives, and establish and implement policies and procedures for operation of the Philanthropy and Volunteer Services departments. Implementing techniques and strategies to achieve such goals.
• Work closely with the HHC Central Region Auxiliaries to plan and raise funds through fundraising events and other initiatives for the benefit of MidState Medical Center and The Hospital of Central Connecticut at the New Britain General and Bradley Memorial campuses. Collaborate with colleagues of Hartford HealthCare to maximize fundraising opportunities, strategize on system-wide initiatives and solicitations, and ensure best practices and fundraising and volunteer standards of operation
• Create operating budgets for Philanthropy and Volunteer Services, prepare regular reports and provide updates for hospital's Board of Directors, Executive Leadership Team, and development committees
  Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree Public Administration, Public Affairs, Business Administration or other closely related field is required
• Seven plus years in leadership experience in fundraising, public affairs, marketing, communications or other closely related field
• Demonstrated success in capital campaigns and planned giving
• Experience in leading teams and programs with organization-wide impact
• Accomplished in-- leading successful fundraising initiatives to support organizational goals and objectives
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to conceptualize the big picture while managing the small details
• Passion for service excellence with all constituencies including immediate team members
