Job Summary
Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in
collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse
utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State
Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital.
This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced
population of patients, which includes standards of practice to
meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational
needs of the patient and family.
Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Associate's degree in Nursing.
Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.
Experience
One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical
experience as a licensed registered nurse.
Licensure, Certification, Registration
Registered Nurse, State of CT
Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart
Association (AHA)
Additional certifications may be required in specific
specialties
Language Skills
Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements
Applies the principles and practices of nursing.
Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient
care.
Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of
responsibilities over time.
Knowledge of high reliability.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Uses
communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and
facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.
Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with
patients/families and co-workers.
Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for
age specific populations.
Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.
Self-directed in clinical responsibilities.
Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities.
Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs.
Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and
changes are implemented.
