candidates. Join Midstate Radiology Associates (MRA) as a Full
Time, 1st Shift, Radiology Nurse working at MidState Medical Center
(Meriden) and Hospital of Central Connecticut (New Britain).
Position Schedule: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, 4 shifts per week during

offers competitive starting compensation based on qualifications
and experience. The compensation for this position is: $35.21 -
$52.02 The listed compensation range covers the full scope for this
position. Actual starting pay is set based on relevant
qualifications, related experience, and internal pay equity within

well-qualified candidates. Job Summary: Responsible for providing,
promoting and maintaining quality patient care during diagnostic
and therapeutic imaging procedures through education, standards of
practice, professional growth and collaboration with other
multidisciplinary health care providers. This is accomplished by a
complete and thorough process of assessing, diagnosing, planning,
coordination, teaching, counseling, and facilitating the care of
the patients in Radiology Services. Key Accountabilities: Specific
duties fall into four categories. They are clinical, education,
management, and collaboration. CLINICAL Prioritizes patient needs
and functions as patient advocate Assesses the biological,
psychological, sociological and cultural needs of the needs of the
patient and family. Assesses and monitors patient condition
including vital sign monitoring, recognition of EKG changes, and
initiates appropriate nursing interventions. Administers contrast
material Recognizes, documents, and assists in the treatments that
require professional nursing skills Administers conscious sedation
and monitors patients as appropriate. Recognizes, documents, and
assists in the treatment of contrast reactions Intervenes in
emergency situations Assists radiologists with special procedures
and treatments that require professional nursing skills Assesses
need for and administers other medication as appropriate Provides
continuity of care for the critically ill patient Demonstrates
skill in using special equipment such as monitors, infusion pumps,
pacemakers, O2 equipment, ventilators, etc. Documents patient
status and nursing interventions Demonstrates ability to prioritize
nursing responsibilities within the department EDUCATION Provides
health teaching and procedural information to patients and families
Provides staff education on CPR, patient care, safety, infection
control, etc. In-services other health care professionals regarding
radiology nurses’ role, continuity of patient care, and topics
related to radiology Assists with orientation of nurses,
physicians, technologists, and students Evaluates, prepares, and
distributes written patient education materials Individual
exceptions may apply only under the discretion of the Medical and
Administrative Director MANAGEMENT Acts as a resource person for
nursing, medical, and radiology staff Assists with quality
improvement and risk management programs Participates in the
development and evaluation of policies and procedure in radiology
Participates in the formulation of written standards of care,
practice, and governance Practices cost containment Maintains
emergency equipment Monitors medications including narcotics
Participates in hospital, nursing, and radiology committees
COLLABORATION Acts as liaison between radiology and nursing units
Utilizes services available in the hospital to continue to remain
current in practice Interacts with other health care professional
to maintain continuity of quality patient care The preceding

essential functions of the job. Qualifications Guidelines:
Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s
degree (or equivalent) in Nursing or related field Current CT RN
state license. CPR certification. ACLS certification Ability to use
independent and mature judgment Above average interpersonal skills
Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent physical assessment skills
and the ability to start IV’s Has a general knowledge of all areas
of nursing practice Ability to work without direct supervision
Maintenance of continuing education credits as required by
licensure. Desirable: Two year’s experience as a critical care
nurse/ambulatory care Knowledge: Working knowledge applicable to
radiological technology with specific references to anatomy,
medical and surgical disease, and scientific principles as applied
to radiological technology. Patient care standards and
requirements. Quality assurance principles and practices. Customer
service principles and practices. OSHA principles and practices.
TJC standards of practice. Skills/Abilities: Operate cardiac
monitor and emergency equipment Administer medications Assess
patient’s physical status Obtain patient health history Communicate
effectively with patients, relatives, medical staff and co-workers.
Venipunctures certificate (where applicable). Maintain the
confidentiality of patient records. Schedule, organize and complete
work in accordance with required workloads. Read, interpret and
follow internal quality standards and government regulations.
Understand and follow specifications and instructions. Ability to
react calmly and effectively in emergencies. Capable of maintaining
basic life support (CPR). Capable of maintaining advanced life
support (ACLS). Special Conditions: OSHA Class 1 exposure to
Bloodborne Pathogens. May involve physical lifting and/or walking.
Shift Schedule: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM, 4 shifts per week during Mon-Fri
with one day off on call rotation. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36
