The Stanley Black & Decker Global Supply Management team is our strategic sourcing organization focused on leveraging the company's scale to achieve the best possible price with the best possible quality; service and delivery among all categories of spend. In addition, the team maintains close alignment with the businesses to support overall strategies and drives to a best-in-class sourcing organization using Stanley Fulfillment System principles.

What You'll Do
Reporting to the VP - Indirect Procurement, this individual is tasked with managing and developing a customer-focused, service-oriented team that delivers significant Full Value to the Business through global Category Management and against a Balanced Scorecard: Productivity, Service, Quality and Innovation. The Director is expected to further enhance global category strategies, and build internal-external partnerships to help bring his/her categories to the best in class for the industry. Special focus will be given to achieving material year-on-year productivity goals, significantly improving contract and process compliance, driving engagement with stakeholders and bringing in innovative solutions. Additionally, he/she will offer domain expertise, participate in difficult supplier negotiations, present regularly to the Company's senior leadership, and serve as an escalation point in case of issues. This position will involve leading efforts on a global basis and interacting with multiple SBUs, geographies and work cultures.

The Director of Strategic Sourcing will manage a team of direct reports with responsibilities spanning sourcing, contracting, and supplier relationship management. Specifically, you will: -

  • Develop and implement global sourcing category strategies for various spend categories and deliver value against Productivity, Service, Quality, and Innovation KPIs
  • Focus on annual productivity improvements in close alignment with Business, Finance and across various stakeholders
  • Enhance further global Category Management framework and drive required change management throughout the Enterprise
  • Conduct in-depth spend analysis and spend category segmentation to identify further improvement opportunities in alignment with Business priorities
  • Responsible for the creation of TCO value to the organization through a combination of productivity, working capital, synergies, reduced risk, improved compliance, reduction supplier lead times, etc. -
  • Track performance within each applicable spend category and report out to various functional stakeholders and executive leadership teams.
  • Leading cross-functional teams to develop and implement leading category strategies
  • Uphold internal and external policies, regulations, and laws
  • Maintain business relationships with strategic suppliers and serves as an escalation point to resolve supplier performance issues
  • Institutionalize best-practice processes and policies and knowledge sharing within the team
  • Assess, coach, mentor, and help develop capabilities of individuals within your team

    • A Bachelor's degree is required. An MBA or master's in Supply Chain is preferred.
    • Six Sigma or Lean/Kaizen certification is a plus
    • 10+ years of strategic sourcing or equivalent experience with a deep understanding of the supply markets
    • In-depth global Category Management expertise and track record of CatMan Implementation
    • Must have a balance of both strategic and operational capacities, including global sourcing, supplier management, commodity risk management, etc. with a focus on productivity goal attainment
    • Global mindset with experience working in an international/multi-cultural matrix environment
    • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and financial reporting
    • Experience in advanced sourcing techniques and tools, and supplier management
    • Experience in Professional Services and Marketing required and Legal, HR, Temp Labor, IT, and other spend categories are a plus
    • Proficiency in conducting market analysis, cost modeling, and financial risk management
    • Strategic negotiations skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, particularly at the management level
    • Capable to build sustainable business partnerships with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers
    • Influencing without direct authority
    • Experience managing and mentoring a team of Direct Reports
    • Passion for creating value and deliver with agility
    • Strong personal and professional integrity
    • Comfortable with conflict of opinions with a demonstrated track record of positive and constructive outcomes
    • Ability to effectively juggle priorities and practice multi-tasking
    • Expertise in project management
    • Team oriented and focused on supporting and developing talent
