Do you enjoy a fast-paced environment and working with diverse populations? Join our team as a Behavior Support Specialist at Eagle House! As a Behavior Support Specialist at our psychiatric residential treatment facility, youll develop and implement specialized behavior plans for children so they can successfully return home to live in the community. As a member of a multidisciplinary team, youll work with the children, provide them with opportunities to strengthen their coping and social skills, and track their progress as part of their treatment in the program. Starting Pay is $15.00 per hour with differential pay given for hours worked between 3 PM-7 AM. JOB SUMMARY: The Behavior Support Specialist (BSS) participates as a key member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team in the treatment and/or education of children with significant emotional, behavioral and learning disabilities. In conjunction with the clinical team, she/he develops and implements individualized behavioral plans for clients to help them build skills, provides 1:1 support to clients to help them stabilize and avoid the need for an inpatient setting, and track and monitors data on clients progress to help inform treatment planning. The Behavior Support Specialists goal is to enhance clients social, emotional, and behavioral functioning. RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the safety of children in all situations through the use of supervision and the implementation of various therapeutic techniques, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention. Conduct client observations in various settings to gather information on functioning Develop and implement individualized behavior plans for client in the milieu and in the home setting, if needed. Collect and analyze data related to clients functioning to inform treatment planning. Maintain a safe, clean and dignified milieu environment. Serve as a healthy role model for clients. Participate in client treatment team meetings and clinical rounds. Demonstrate techniques that enhance problem solving abilities and enable growth and maturity. Understand and relay relevant information to the team Record and document critical information in a timely matter. Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and timely matter. Communicate with coworkers in a professional and timely matter. Communicate with external professionals (e.g. Teachers, DCF Workers) in a professional and timely manner. Maintain appropriate certifications (see Licensure Requirements below). Provide safe transportation to and from program activities. Interact with children in a positive, nurturing, therapeutic manner. Other duties as assigned. Experience and Skills: Bachelors Degree is strongly preferred; minimum of Associates degree required. 2-4 years in human service field or experience working with significant emotional, behavioral and psychiatric needs. Clean and valid drivers license and three consecutive years of driving experience Ability to obtain a Public Service License, Medication Administration Certification, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Certification, and American Red Cross First Aid and CPR Certification Knowledge of basic child development and the effects of abuse and neglect Must be able to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Must be culturally competent to serve a diverse population. Must have the ability to manage stress and to respond to emergency situations safely and calmly. Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications. Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows XP environment. Familiarity with specific applications used by the Village a plus. Physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations, i.e. must be able to supervise groups of children and perform physical intervention if required; must be able to move freely from place to place without restriction.
